MEX 51 Mex51.org Hwy 51 Alianza · San Miguel de Allende

Neighborhood initiative · Highway 51 · Km 2

One access point.
Four streams of traffic.
No traffic light.

We are Hwy 51 Alianza: five residential developments that enter and exit through a single point, barely a mile from the San Miguel where we pay our taxes. Getting home means crossing three lanes of fast-moving traffic plus a lawless shoulder lane. At least five people have lost their lives on this stretch. Whether you live here or work here, if you face this crossing, this cause is yours too. We are asking for protection before the next tragedy.

29 July

Community meeting

6:00 to 8:00 PM · Hotel Imperio de Ángeles (San Miguel de Allende–Celaya Highway Km 2, Villa de los Frailes). With municipal and state officials to discuss solutions for our corridor's safety. Open to everyone affected: residents, workers, business owners, and anyone who crosses this stretch daily. Your voice matters: join us.

One access point for thousands Five developments and the corridor's businesses use the same spot: more than 600 homes in Villa de los Frailes and La Cañada alone, and over a thousand homes in the area that depend on this stretch every day.
Four streams of traffic Three marked lanes of fast-moving traffic toward Celaya, plus a shoulder used as an improvised lane by drivers who ignore the light and the rules of the road.
At least five lives lost Fatal accidents as recent as June 2026. The grade hides the access, and long waits at the light push drivers into two-lane U-turns.

What we are asking for

Residents of the corridor filed a formal petition with the Secretariat of Public Works of the State of Guanajuato. The petition is preventive: we do not want to wait for the next accident to act.

It is grounded in the constitutional human right to safe mobility (Article 4) and Mexico's General Law on Mobility and Road Safety.
